EV Conversion with Helios Electric

Nathan Parrow of Oklahoma Robotics LLC, teamed up with Darius Tarsio of Helios Electric, in a combined EV Conversion.  The conversion project left the planning stages and with the guysgetting their hands greasy and pulling the donor car apart!

The overall plan was to take an Acura Integra and remove the gas engine and convert it so that it runs on an electric motor powered by batteries.  There have been other conversions like this, but in the end I think the combined effort and skills of both men will produce a high-quality and somewhat unique EV.

The first part of the design of the conversion included work in CAD, Solid Works, and a large CNC router.  Custom pieces were designed and cut to connect the existing transmission to the new electric motor.  After that, custom mounts and racks were designed and hand-made to mount the engine and all 24 led acid batteries.

This was only part of the build.  The guys did their own wiring; cutting and crimping each part.  In the end, once all the wiring and components were in place, the guys took it for a test run.

Although there were other little things to finish, the car was shown at the Coppell Earth Day in Coppell, TX.
